Volkswagen officially started serial production of the new Tayron SUV at its factory in Wolfsburg (Germany).
The first copy of the Tayron was normally in Ultra Violet Metallic color and with a 2.0 liter TDI engine.
The Tayron comes with five or optional seven seats, and is positioned between the Touareg (premium class) and the Tiguan (middle class).
In the Tayron in the version with two rows of seats, five passengers can enjoy themselves, with up to 885 liters of luggage space for a holiday trip.
A total of seven efficient drive systems will soon be available. The range also includes two plug-in hybrid electric vehicles of the next generation (eHybrid). They can achieve an electric range of over 100 km and long journeys of up to 850 km between two refueling stops. Additionally, with a towing capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes, the Tayron is a stylish yet well-equipped tow vehicle for trailers of all shapes and sizes.
The Tayron is 4770 millimeters long, which makes it 231 millimeters longer than the Tiguan. To make room for the third row of seats, the wheelbase has been extended by 114 millimeters to 2,791 millimeters. The width is 1852 millimeters, and the height is 1660 millimeters. Its cargo area varies depending on the seating configuration. In the three-row version, you get 345 liters behind the last row. The two-row model provides a more generous 885 liters. If you fold down the second row, the cargo space increases significantly to 2090 liters in the two-row model and 1905 liters in the three-row version. However, choosing a hybrid model slightly reduces cargo space due to the size of the battery. It offers 705 liters with the seats up and 1,915 liters when folded. The hybrid version is only available with two rows of seats, providing a more efficient but slightly less spacious option.
After the launch of all versions with a mild hybrid drive (eTSI), Volkswagen will also offer the Tayron with two plug-in hybrid drives (eHybrid), two turbo gasoline engines (TSI) and two turbo diesel engines (TDI). All powertrains are mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG). Even the entry-level eTSI engine with an output of 110 kW (150 hp) is a high-tech drive system (mild hybrid with 48 V technology). However, the advantages of electric and petrol drive are combined in two innovative plug-in hybrid models. They deliver a system power of 150 kW (204 hp) and 200 kW (272 hp). Thanks to the 19.7 kWh (net) battery, both Tayron eHybrids can achieve an electric range of over 100 km. Their batteries can be charged up to 11 kW on an AC wall box or charging station and with up to 50 kW on DC fast charging stations.
The most powerful TDI with 142 kW (193 hp) is also very efficient and is paired with 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. All Tayron 4MOTION models are designed for a maximum trailer weight of up to 2,500 kg.
The entry-level version is the 110 kW/150 hp eTSI in the Life package, which is available in Germany from 45,475 euros.
