The domestic streaming platform Voyo, operated by Nova TV, experienced an unprecedentedly successful year. Thanks to numerous content and great domestic titles, the service managed to surpass the 950,000 paying users mark. In 2025, however, Voyo does not want to stagnate and would like to move to even better numbers. Therefore, he will start the new year with the ambitious Czech series Studna.
A story that shook Czechoslovakians
The expected series Well will arrive on Voyo already on January 10, and six episodes are ready for viewers. The plot of the series, which is inspired by real events, goes back to 1932. At a village dance in Vonoklasy in central Bohemia, Stanislav Jelínek meets a young Miss Maria. After the couple falls in love, they start building their love nest together and later give birth to their son Stanislav.
Their life seemed to be uneventful until the events of 1968, the circumstances of which shocked almost everyone at the time. The family was met by a tragedy that is intertwined with several mysteries that raise questions even today. The series will try to show what preceded the tragedy, how far neighborhood disputes can lead or what people actually carry as an internal inheritance from their parents.
An experienced team is behind the series
The series Studna has already visited two film festivals, where it received praise from fans and critics. According to them, the series is filmed in an unprecedentedly realistic way and can completely draw the viewer into the story.
As for the direction, it was handled by the well-known director Tereza Kopáčová, who is in charge of the successful series Smysl pro tumor (2024) or the film Metanol (2019). The screenplay was provided by Miro Šifra, known for the film Miki (2024), and Kristina Májová, who took care of, for example, a documentary called Kauza Kramný (2024).
Loaded cast
The star cast will also try to guarantee the success of the series. For example, David Švehlík with a rich acting career or Johana Matoušková will appear in the main roles. Viewers may recognize this from the film Hranice lásky (2022). The audience can also look forward to Filip František Červenka, Kristýn Ryšek or Jakub Prachar.
