As the Indonesian oil company Pertamina is the main sponsor of the team, VR46 will perform at the Mandalika track this weekend with a special red and white graphic in the colors of the country’s flag.
Marko Beceki and Fabio di Đanantonio, who presented the special colors on Thursday, said they were delighted with the ‘rock star’ reception they had received since arriving in the country.
“I felt like Justin Bieber, or yes, The Beatles!” Didja said. “It’s like when a rock star comes to town I guess! It was amazing to see all the support during the parade on Wednesday.”
“I’ve never seen so many people cheering, screaming and so excited. This will definitely give us extra motivation. I like the special graphics, it’s quite aggressive, with the Indonesian flag. I hope to do a good job.”
Beceki, whose image is also featured on posters across the island, added: “To be honest, it feels a little strange! I’m not used to seeing myself in so many pictures everywhere.”
“But the support we have from the fans, as Fabio said, is amazing. We are happy to have this collaboration with Pertamino and we hope to give them all a good show.”
“I’m really happy that as a team we were able to honor our partnership with the company with this special graphic in the colors of the local flag”said VR46 team director Alesio Saluci.
“This became our third home GP: we were welcomed in an extraordinary way, with truly incredible love and respect.”
Beceki won third place in the sprint in Indonesia last year, as well as fifth in the main race. Di Gianantonio was fourth, although he was driving for Gresini at the time.
