Walkaround Honda e:Ny1 – Electrics for everyone

The Japanese manufacturer is making another attempt in a segment in which it has not shown much interest compared to other manufacturers. The Honda e:Ny1 is the Japanese’s new electric competitor, a car that should appeal to a wider audience with its SUV form factor.

The new Honda e:Ny1 – pronounced “anyone” – is the second electric model that Honda is launching in Europe, after the Honda e. From the perspective of design and dimensions, we could very easily say that it is an electric variant of the new generation Honda HR-V, but the Japanese say that it is developed on a different platform, specific to electric models.

Even though it looks a lot like the HR-V, the new e:Ny1 uses some tricks to improve the aerodynamic coefficient, thus maximizing the overall efficiency, which is very important for electric cars. We can recognize the car very quickly by looking at the front grille, now closed, where the charging port is also located.

What does the new Honda e:Ny1 offer for 51,000 euros?

The car uses a battery of 62 kWh, net capacity, which Honda says is enough for a maximum range of 412 kilometers. In real life, we got values between 330 and 350 kilometers, but it depends on one’s driving style.

The car uses a single electric motor, mounted on the front axle, which develops 204 hp and allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.

The battery can charge up to 78 kW, which means you can fully charge it in less than an hour if you use a fast station.

In terms of practicality, the Honda e:Ny1 is not bad, but it is not the class champion either. The boot measures 361 litres, but can be increased by folding down the rear seat.

Only one level of equipment is available for the Honda e:Ny1, being a very rich one, it offers electric, heated seats, a panoramic roof, but also two screens inside. The smallest of them is used to display the on-board instruments, but the main attraction is the central screen. It measures 15.1 inches diagonally and is mounted vertically, an approach similar to what we’ve seen on the Ford Explorer, for example.

In Romania, the Honda e:Ny1 has a list price of 51,500 euros including VAT.
