Wall Street ended Friday’s session with all major indexes posting gains of over 1% after a hectic week.
The S&P 500 rose 1.11% to 5,459.10 points. The Nasdaq Composite increased 1.03% to 17,357.88 points, while the Down Jones recorded the biggest rise, climbing 1.64% to 40,589.34 points.
The small caps index, Russell 2000, also rose by 1.67%, with investors continuing to invest in smaller listed companies.
US stocks received a boost late this week after US economic data on growth and inflation reinforced speculation that the US Federal Reserve will pave the way for an interest rate cut in September, but not before.
Among the “big tech” companies, Nvidia gained 0.71%, Apple advanced 0.22%, Amazon rose 1.47%, Meta shot up 2.75% and Microsoft gained 1.64%. Alphabet fell 0.28%.
