Howard Carpendale has already received another honor this year: the musical appeared at the Musical Comedy in Leipzig at the beginning of November „Hello! Again?“ for the premiere. Staged by “Quatsch Comedy Club” legend Thomas Hermanns. A romantic stage play with the songs of Howard Carpendale. It tells the story of a married couple who are haunted by a previous affair and are now at a crossroads in their lives. All scheduled performances are sold out.
In addition to the first and very successful Carpendale musical, there is now a very special film. It is not the first documentation about the life and work of the German musician. For the first time, however, the pop star is being directed and portrayed by his own son.

“Through my eyes – My father Howard Carpendale” is intended to provide a new, very personal look at the singer, WDR announced on Friday. It is the debut of Wayne Carpendale, who worked here as a writer, producer and director. Together with cameraman Clemens Bittner, he accompanied his father on and behind the stage from autumn 2023 to summer 2024, explains WDR. The broadcaster quotes the director: “The audience experiences my father in the film the way I see him: private, real and approachable, but without me interpreting him. This authenticity makes the documentary so special.”
“The most personal portrait about me”
The musician himself comments: “I was very moved by the film because it was the most personal portrait of me that there has ever been. Only a son can do it in this form about his own father.” WDR wants to broadcast the documentary linearly on December 14, 2024 at 9:45 p.m. The film should already be released in advance ARD media library appear. The WDR also refers to the appearance of the two Carpendale men in the “Kölner Treff” on December 13th.
