“We all have to get out of this dark history”

A million euros to help those affected by the Dana de Valencia can be a lot of money, and very little at the same time. “The important thing is that they feel that we are by their side,” David Muñoz recalled this Tuesday at the Saló de Cent of the Barcelona City Council during the presentation of the solidarity concert that will be held on Friday of next week, November 29, at the Palau Sant Jordi. An emotional night that will bring together three generations of Catalan musicians with the presence of Joan Manuel Serrat, Andrea Motis, Lucia Fumero and, of course, Estopa.

“Whenever society needs to demand anything, it turns to artists, and they do well because they are part of the people, they understand their pain and their sorrows,” recalled the Noi del Poble Sec, who will leave his retirement behind for a day to “get as much out of Well, I have it in me to approach a problem that belongs to everyone and a drama that especially belongs to a few. It is a dark story that we all have to get out of.”

Serrat will be the first to perform, followed by the trio Antrea Motis, Judit Nedderman and Lucia Fumero, united for this very special performance although yesterday they could not be at the event in person. Instead, they sent messages in which they emphasized their enthusiasm “to contribute our grain of sand in a great occasion to help,” as trumpeter Andrea Motis commented in an idea shared by Judit Nedderman, who highlighted the artistic pleasure of “turning music in money that helps people”, while Lucia Fumero expressed her hope that many people attend “so that there is a substantial contribution.”

Estopa will close the concert on the same stage that they filled alone just a month ago, and where they do not rule out some collaboration with the other artists. “We cannot put ourselves in the place of the people who are suffering no matter how much we see it on television,” recalled David Muñoz at the event, which was attended by Mayor Jaume Collboni, as well as several councilors and the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat. Sònia Hernández. “They have lost their homes, their jobs and some have unfortunately lost their lives or those of their children,” continued David Muñoz, who recalled the joy he felt upon receiving the invitation to attend the concert, “because I could finally do something to get there.” directly to the people who suffer.”

For now, 12,000 tickets have been sold out of the 16,000 that were put on sale with prices starting at 38 euros. Currently the collection is 650,000 euros, a figure that includes both additional donations and those made through line zero. The objective is to raise around one million euros that will be delivered in full to the Creu Roja so that it can be channeled to the victims.

“There have been many artists who have offered to perform these days,” recalled Tito Ramoneda, president of the promoter The Project, in charge of coordinating the concert, in which a dozen companies are involved along with public institutions and associations. from the world of music such as ARC (Associació Professional de Representatives, Promotors i Mànagers de Catalunya), ASACC (Associació de Sales de Concerts de Catalunya) and APM (Associació de Sales de Concerts de Catalunya) and APM (Associació de Sales de Concerts de Catalunya) of Music Promoters).

David Muñoz, happy “because I could finally do something to directly reach the people who suffer”

“Barcelona should have had a great solidarity concert with Valencia,” stated Jaume Collboni, present at the event along with a good part of the councilors of the council as well as the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat, SònIt is a dark story from which we all have to get out Hernandez. The mayor has highlighted the collaboration of the city, with the sending of more than 300 troops to the affected areas, where more than 70 tons of food and hygiene products collected voluntarily by residents have also been sent.

“We are alive, we must continue, face tomorrow with the pain that yesterday caused you,” Serrat recalled at the end of the event. “We know that the problem cannot be solved with specific actions, we are a grain of sand,” he acknowledged, “but if we make mountains of sand it will be fantastic.”
