The tone dropped between the prime minister and the opposition leader. In a negotiation in the public square, in which both sides publicly say what they propose, this Friday night it was the turn of the PS leader to respond to the counterproposal from Luís Montenegromaking a proposal to reduce the application time for the Young IRS to 7 years and giving the Government two options in the IRC.
Pedro Nuno Santos said that the PS “does not put itself on the outside, it genuinely wants to be part of the process”. But to do so, he must respond (also) to his party, making a counter-counter-proposal quickly to calm the doubts and agitation that has permeated the PS since the Prime Minister’s statements on Thursday night. The PS had two red lines, and the Government only fully respected one.
