Based on the schedule of the past years, the second major update of the current main iOS version usually arrived in the second week of December, so we can expect the new version this year as well. It looks like iOS 18.2 will offer more freedom to EU users, as it will allow you to uninstall more essential apps.

A MacRumors according to information, in the new version it will be possible to delete applications such as the App Store, Camera, Messages, Photos and Safari.

Back in August, Apple announced that it would give users the ability to uninstall essential system apps in compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). In the EU, this means that almost all applications can be deleted, with the exception of the Phone and Settings apps.

After deleting the applications, we can of course reinstall them without any problems Settings > Install Apps route. In the US and other countries, basic apps like Photos and the App Store can be hidden, but not completely removed from iPhones.
