We can see an impressive celestial phenomenon in the middle of next week – even with the naked eye –

The unusual sight can also be enjoyed with the naked eye, so it’s worth being on the lookout.

We will soon witness a truly special celestial phenomenon: Saturn and the Moon will rise together on July 24 (Wednesday), and the phenomenon will be visible with the naked eye after 10 p.m. – reported the Svábhegy Star Observatory.

The two planets – the waning Moon and the ringed Saturn – will rise together, so that the spectacular ringed planet will appear at approximately 10:25 p.m., just one lunar disc away, above the rising, waning Moon. Despite the proximity of the Moon, Saturn will be visible with the naked eye, and as a result will offer a very special sight.

By the way, the rising of the waning Moon is already a magnificent phenomenon in itself, since the lunar disc, which shines in orange-red colors, is flattened due to the refraction of the atmosphere, and this effect is further enhanced by the “bitten” phase of the Moon. The duo will be 10 degrees above the horizon an hour later, around 11:25 p.m., which means that observation will also be easier.

Another interesting thing is that the Atlas and Hercules craters, the Taurus mountain ranges, and the Nectaris Basin in the south can be seen with the help of hand-held binoculars in the northern hemisphere of the Moon, next to the light-shadow boundary.

You can read more details about the phenomenon and its observation on the page of the Svábhegy Observatory.
