The first Romanian men’s basketball team defeated the Luxembourg national team on Sunday, away, score 84-78 (46-31), in the third game from group B of the European pre-qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup.
Romania led the scoreboard in Ducat, the maximum difference on the table being 16 points.

Those who scored the most were Kovac 23 points, Rugg 19, for Luxembourg, respectively Richard 26, Cățe 17, Olah 12, for Romania.
Our results are: 72-76 and 84-78 with Luxembourg75-62 with Norway. The last match for Romania is scheduled for February 23, 2025, at home, against Norway.

In this first phase of the European pre-qualifications, 10 national teams are playing, including Romania. Switzerland, Kosovo, Ireland, Azerbaijan (A), respectively Austria, Armenia, Albania (C) are in the other two groups.
The first place in each of the three groups, as well as a team in second place, will qualify for the 2nd phase of the pre-qualifications, where they will join the eight teams eliminated in the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers.

Before the game, the tricolors participated in the vote at the National Institute of Foreign Languages in Luxemburg Ville. Among them were players who voted for the first time, marking a special moment for both them and the team.
