A new democratic invention must be the key to getting air during the reform of the health sector that the government presented on Friday. The goal of the reform is for hospitals and municipalities to take up less of the Danish health care system, while sick Danes must, in turn, receive more help at home and outside hospitals. An important element in those plans is 17 new Health Councils, which will consist of municipal and regional politicians.
“The health councils will be the engine in the transition to a closer healthcare system, where more care and treatment takes place outside the hospitals”, said Minister of Health Sophie Løhde (V) at the press conference on Friday.
