Geely has announced the official prices for the Coolray SUV. What features does the rival for the Renault Captur boast?
At the end of September, Geely announced that it is officially entering the Romanian car market. The first model that the Chinese manufacturer will sell in Romania is Coolray, a small SUV, which will compete with models such as Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008 or Hyundai Kona.
There are two trim levels, the difference being made by the available colors and the design of the alloy wheels. Otherwise, the cars are equipped exactly the same, regardless of version, and prices start at 28,490 euros.
Regardless of the equipment level, GF or GF+, Coolray benefits from full LED headlights, 360-degree cameras, 18-inch alloy wheels, but also a seven-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. The only engine available is a 1.5 turbo, on gasoline, which develops 172 HP and 290 Nm.
The top equipment costs 29,990 euros
The top trim for the Geely Coolray, the GF+, has a list price of €29,990 including VAT. As we saw during the first contact with this model, the major differences between the two equipment levels consist in the choice of colors, the design of the rims or certain exterior accessories.
Also, the inside of the Coolray is the same regardless of the version. Cars are equipped with two-tone synthetic leather upholstery, 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch diagonal multimedia screen. It only offers Apple CarPlay integration, and only by wire. The cars are also equipped with a wireless phone charging pad, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, seat heating.
In terms of practicality, Coolray offers ample space in the back seat, but the trunk suffers. Compared to its closest rivals, the Chinese SUV has a trunk that measures only 330 liters.
In addition to Coolray, Geely is going to bring two other models to Romania. These are the Starray and the E5, the latter being an all-electric SUV about which no information has been released.
