A national, representative research confirms and shows devastating results about the knowledge, attitudes and habits of the population between the ages of 14 and 50.

The primary objective of the campaign is to provide adequate and informative information to the Hungarian population about dental care, as well as the maintenance and improvement of comprehensive oral hygiene, so that people pay much more attention to cleaning their teeth and mouth and regular check-ups.

Our mouths are in terrible condition

The necessity of the campaign is confirmed by the nationwide, online representative research of approximately 1,300 people, which the MFE initiated in January-February 2014. The results show a disheartening picture of the oral care knowledge, attitude and habits of the Hungarian population between the ages of 14 and 50.

  • Among other things, the research points out that the majority brush their teeth less often more often than he considers important, moreover, nearly a third of the population between the ages of 14 and 50 brush their teeth only once a day instead of the required two, and it is especially true for men that they do not clean their teeth with the appropriate frequency.
  • Men and those of low status are not only a “risky” group in terms of oral care for this reason, but also because there is a significantly higher proportion of those whothey only change their toothbrush once a week or even less often, when not only the bristles are used too much, but the toothbrush also becomes significantly infected.
  • Also a worrying result is that although according to experts it is recommended to brush teeth for at least two minutes, almost half of the participants in the research spend less time brushing their teeth.
  • In addition, despite the fact that it is advisable to go for a dental screening at least once a year, almost half of the participants in the research revealed that he only visits the dentist if he has any complaintsand another 4 percent do not go to a specialist at all, even when there is a problem.
  • The low level of oral care knowledge of the Hungarian population is further supported by the fact that more than three quarters of the respondents they lack knowledge about the benefits of using dental floss.
