The president of USR, Elena Lasconi, estimates that it is possible to reach the second round of the presidential elections, with an advance of 20,000 votes in front of the PSD leader, Marcel Ciolacu.
“We may close with a difference of about 20,000 votes in my favor, but it is still not certain. I am weighted. I’m not happy, I want every vote to count; I have confidence and I am sure that it will be very good for Romania”, said Lasconi, from the campaign headquarters, for Antena 3.
She appealed to Romanians in the USA and Canada to vote in her favor.
“There is still voting there. The Romanians who went there left because they like the West and the Occident, and I am absolutely sure that they can contribute to saving democracy in Romania, because otherwise I don’t know how we are seen right now by the great powers of the world, but I don’t think that too good I always thought about this comparison – how the world looked at us fondly, with admiration and respect, during the Revolution of 1989. And how everything collapsed in 1990, when Iliescu brought the miners”, said the USR leader.
The mayor of the capital, Nicusor Dan, in turn launched an appeal for Romanians in the USA and Canada, urging them to vote in favor of Elena Lasconi.
According to the latest results, Elena Lasconi is in 3rd place, less than 10 thousand votes behind Marcel Ciolacu.
