Aleksandar Ilijevski from Leskovac constructed a solar tricycle that can develop a speed of up to 40 kilometers per hour. The owner, Dalibor Stanković, traveled all over Europe on an electric bicycle, and now he is attracting the attention of his fellow citizens with this ecological vehicle.
The recumbent tricycle was constructed ten years ago as an electric vehicle. Master Aleksandar Ilijevski and owner Dalibor Stanković, wanting to perfect this means of transport, came up with the idea of adding solar panels to it, so the most economical ecological vehicle was created.
The panels have really become powerful, so they are enough to drive the vehicle. You can drive the daga all day without the battery draining. It is topped up while driving, if the sun is strong and the terrain is flat, and then it can move all day without topping up,” explains the vehicle’s constructor, Aleksandar Ilijevski.
Dalibor Stanković lives in the village of Grabovnica, and he travels twenty kilometers to Leskovac and back every day on a solar tricycle.
He is often stopped by passers-by, and in places where they do not know him, they sometimes address him in English because they think he is a foreigner.
“I drive thirty per hour, which is a gradual acceleration due to the power of the engine. I’ve also driven stronger versions, this one accelerates a little slower, but that’s fine for me,” says Dalibor Stanković from Grabovnica.
Expensive, but worth it
A solar tricycle is not cheap. There are no other orders for now, which does not mean that there won’t be any.
“It is not a commercial vehicle. People wouldn’t pay for it, maybe some, but if you pay it well, then you drive for nothing and just pump up the tires,” says Ilijevski.
Aleksandar was the first in Serbia to construct an electric bicycle. The people of Leskov often come to him to modernize and strengthen their two-wheelers.
He is extremely proud of the bike he recently built, which can reach 100 kilometers per hour in six seconds.
