The Berane committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) announced that, in the desire for Berane to “become a city that provides equal opportunities for all residents”, it will pay special attention to the creation and implementation of social policy.
“The future city administration, taking into account the current socio-economic status and the trend that has affected Montenegro, which refers to the increase in prices for almost all services, will provide a free kindergarten for all children of preschool age in Berane,” the announcement reads.
They say that, “keeping in mind that healthy and productive care is in the general interest of all of us, as well as the needs of our fellow citizens”, they will also initiate the construction of a Home for the elderly.
“In addition to the above, we will also provide compensation in the amount of EUR 2,000 each for married couples who are in the process of in vitro fertilization. We will initiate an amendment to the Decision on social benefits by which we will increase the compensation for each newborn child by 100%. We will establish a Day Care Center for students from 7 to 18 years old who represent vulnerable groups and who are perpetrators or victims of peer violence”.
They also said that they will pay special attention to the needs of people with disabilities, “absolutely aware that they face a high degree of discrimination in everyday life.” “We will open the system of local self-government for the employment of PWDs, through the subsidies provided by the Law on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities in Montenegro”.
The Beran DPS also says that it will establish a Health Center as a local self-government service, which aims to provide services in the field of preserving citizens’ mental health.
They also said that they will allocate funds for the implementation of the Subtenant Support Program.
“We are convinced that we will achieve the goal, and that Berane, after years of stagnation, will finally be a city according to the standards of all its inhabitants,” the announcement reads.
