Threads vs Bluesky: who will win the social media battle?
Since the purchase of international organizations have made the decision to leave the platform, a departure inspired by the recent American elections in particular, after Musk sometimes highlighted certain tweets from Donald Trump.
Faced with this decline in the use of X, two serious competitors are working hard to try to become THE new benchmark: Threads and Bluesky.
More than a year after his arrival in France, Threadsthe Meta group’s platform, continues to offer new features to its users in an attempt to keep up with the competition. On November 15, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced that users can now access a personalized news feed, like TikTok, but also like X, which also offers a “For you” feed.
With the arrival of this new functionality, the Meta group teams aim to offer their users an experience similar to that found on X, so as to become the new essential platform for fans of the former Twitter.
Moreover, Threads is only at the beginning of its development strategy since Adam Mosseri also announced that the platform will integrate advertising from 2025. This advertising will allow Meta to both increase its revenues, but also for advertisers to have a new acquisition and communication channel. This strategy was also born from the ambition to recover advertisers who would have left X a few years ago, or recently since the American presidential elections.
For his part, Bluesky continues to grow and experience ups and downs in terms of monthly users, but the platform is delighted with a new milestone passed a few days ago: 20 million users are now on Bluesky, and a new version of the platform is now available.
Available in France for several months, the Bluesky platform is experiencing some peaks in new registrations, but is still struggling to attract users in the long term. Faced with the American context, and Elon Musk’s ever more eccentric changes on Twitter, the platform could well implement new strategies to retain users looking for a healthier X (Twitter).
But which of Threads or Bluesky will manage to find a real place in the daily lives of users? To be continued…
