After SweClocker’s review of Webhallen’s handling of returned goods, they now promise to review their procedures. The web hall has taken on board the response from SweClocker’s forum, where many members expressed that they don’t mind buying return goods – if it is clear that they are such.
– It’s exciting to see the commitment, because it means they care. The fact is that if we do away with ourselves, we will hear about it, says Mikael Karlsson, marketing manager at Webhallen.
Changes in the near future
The web hall must clarify the criteria for bargain goods. The ambition is for products sold as new to be completely unused, with all original accessories and protective plastic in place. Otherwise, they should automatically be classified as bargain goods.
– If an item cannot be sold as 100 percent new, it should not be sold, and instead become a bargain item, says Mikael Karlsson.
Mikael Karlsson says that sealing labels on returned goods will be in place in the stores, in three to four weeks at the earliest. There is still a risk that you will receive a return item that is classed as new until the sealing labels are in place.
– It may happen that in the near future you may receive a product with a broken original seal, but in the future that product will be much more strictly controlled, says Mikael Karlsson.
If that should happen, you still have an open purchase and Webhallen offers the return shipping.
So far, Webhallen has focused on informing the staff about the new guidelines
– The first step has been about ensuring that everyone knows what applies. It may sound so obvious, but in a large organization with hundreds of employees, it is not always easy, says Mikael Karlsson.
Unclear when all changes will be implemented
In the spring, Webhallen is also looking at different ways to keep more expensive goods out of bargain goods circulation, but what that might look like is not clear.
At the moment, Mikael Karlsson also cannot say what further changes they want to implement because they will be moving their central warehouse to Borås in the coming six months.
– We don’t want to promise too much now, only to then have to go back on it again. The goal is for it to be a good experience for the customer and a long-term sustainable business for Webhallen, says Mikael Karlsson.
