WEC: Genesis enters endurance racing

Genesis has announced that it will enter the top-tier endurance championship by developing an LMDh rules hypercar, rather than a Le Mans Hypercar (LMH).

The frame, for example, must come from Oreca, Dallara, Ligier or Multimatic, and the hybrid system is a common component developed by Bosch, WAE and Xtrac.

Let me remind you that Alpine, BMW, Cadillac, Porsche and Lamborghini compete with LMDh cars, while Ferrari, Peugeot and Toyota follow LMH rules.

Hyundai’s premium brand has yet to announce which championship it will compete in, but the announcement comes ahead of this weekend’s next World Endurance Championship (WEC) race, the 6 Hours of Fuji.

It’s likely that Genesis will also compete in America’s IMSA Sportscar Championship, given the importance of the North American market to the brand. Genesis has not released a timetable for when it will make its racing debut, but with the WEC and IMSA championships almost over, the 2025 season seems reasonable.
