Weiss exaggerates, his son was the talent, not me. Dinamo versus Slovan? A Croat is not a Slovak – Sport – Football – European Cups

At the end of the summer transfer period in 2010, the most famous Croatian club paid 1.5 million euros for him. He is the only Slovak who wore the jersey of Dinamo Zagreb.

The transfer of Jakub Sylvester raised many eyebrows. Slovan Bratislava received an offer that was difficult to refuse. Although letting go of the then 21-year-old talent was not easy.

“A few people have already teased me with the word talent, but I never considered myself talented and I don’t think they ever considered me talented.

I probably had some, but the big ones in my class were Vlado Weiss and Miňo Stoch. They stood out completely, by two heads, although they were one shorter than everyone else.

At the time, I didn’t notice it too much, I didn’t deal with it, but with the passage of time, when a person takes a step back and looks back at what players Zagreb has brought up, what all Dinamo has achieved…

Only now do I fully realize what a great club I had the honor to be at. The pressure, quality, competition, everything increased, but we met expectations and dominated the league with a comfortable lead.

I don’t want to say that it was unbeatable, there were matches when we had to fight, but with a strong and wide squad, it was really easy from the overall point of view.” Sylvestr recalled for tvnoviny.sk.

Not long ago, the Komárno striker was praised by Slovan coach Vladimír Weiss senior. According to 35-year-old Sylvester, he was exaggerating. He believes that his charges will succeed in tomorrow’s match between the Whites and Dinamo and will add the first points to the Champions League table.

“Although both camps have a similar number of domestic players, the Slovak is simply not a Croatian, hence the 50 million difference.

Croatians have a higher price tag, and thus also quality. More capable foreigners are related to this and we could go on. There is a tremendous power hidden in Dinamo.

But as for the chances, of course, they will be the most favorable of the meetings so far.

We also have to admit what you mentioned – that Slovan is doing a good job, as a whole he is very dangerous and he certainly should not, and will not, start with excessive respect.

But the favorites, even if they will definitely not be in this position, are the Zagreb players,” added Sylvestr.
