This December, the American Ministry of Justice can submit a motion in which it proposes to the court regulations regarding the continued operation of Google – the goal is to break the search company’s monopoly established by the court, which has been systematically built up over years and decades, and to prohibit the further illegal behavior of the company.
At the court hearing of the ongoing case on Friday, the prosecutor’s office did not yet specify what obligations could be imposed on the company, the ministry’s lawyer only stated that the package will be all-encompassing and takes into account the fact that Google organically integrates its own artificial intelligence into its search service, the Gemini.
In the case of the Ministry of Justice against Google (Alphabet), the court stated at the beginning of August that the company had built a monopoly on the market of online search services, achieving that it now controls 90% of the entire segment.
In accordance with the American legal order, the August verdict only established the fact of the violation of the law, further measures will be established within the framework of a new procedure, as part of which the ministry’s submission may play a key role.

There have been speculations about the mandatory regulations and commitments practically since the first-instance judgment was passed, starting from the dismemberment of Google, the separation of some departments, i.e. from the structural transformations through the mandatory handing over of data to competitors to the banning of exclusive contracts for the default search engine.
In the light of the ministry’s position presented on Friday, a probable outcome could be, and at the same time, the future dominance established on the market of AI solutions would be limited if Google were prohibited from organically integrating its own artificial intelligence model into the search service, which could provide a summary answer consisting of several paragraphs instead of a multitude of links. for a free word search based on information found on the Internet.
At the same time, until the entire legal tussle ends, nothing restricts Google from continuing to organically integrate Gemini into its various products, including the search engine. The company has already announced that it will appeal the first-instance verdict in August, and the second-instance proceedings may last at least a year, after which the company still has the option of appealing.
