The new competition is organized to promote the Circular Consumption Charter.

The details of the MakeITcircular 2024 competition, which will be held as part of this year’s Maker Faire Rome, have begun to take shape. The application deadline should be noted now, it is October 3, 2024, and the main prize will be no less than 3,000 euros. The application by clicking here is available. But what is it actually about?

The purpose of MakeITcircular is to promote the “Circular Consumption Charter” (Circular Consumption Charter) and the values ​​of recycling, reuse, and joint planning. Instead of a linear economic model, the transition to a circular economy is essential for sustainable economic growth and the fight against climate change.

The competition’s objectives include raising awareness of the environmental impact of products and industrial processes, spreading knowledge of circularity and the ecological footprint, and promoting the values ​​of durability, sharing, repair and reuse.

All natural persons, companies, organizations, foundations and other legal entities of legal age can apply for the competition. The Evaluation Committee selects the winning project and awards three special prizes. The winning project receives a cash prize of 3,000 euros, while the first and second special prizes are 1,000 and 1,000 euros respectively. In addition, the Antonietta Boselli Special Prize awarded by the Assoutenti Association is an additional prize worth 1,000 euros.

The winner of the 2023 MakeITcircular competition is IOTILIZE became a project that monitors the amount of industrial waste, thus increasing the efficiency of waste collection. The runner-up is iGreen Cover that makes compostable iPhone cases. The third place is CARTONECO “REGIONAL” APEA was a project that creates new innovative products from FSC-certified by-products. The Antonietta Boselli Special Award went to the RestART project, which promotes mechanical, electrical and electronic repair.

The members of the Evaluation Committee include Maria Alliney, Secretary General of Assoutenti, Alessandra Colombo from Versalis, Alessandro Ranellucci, curator of Maker Faire Rome, and Davide Zanon from CODICI. The competition is supported by Innova Camera, a special agency of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, and CNCU consumer organizations.
