What can the Nvidia app do? We will show you the most practical functions – Chapter 1

The Nvidia app is no longer in beta, it brings new features and fully replaces Nvidia Experience. Why switch to a new application immediately and what can it do?

The Nvidia application was in the beta phase for a long time, but at the beginning of November, it left it and saw a full-fledged release. Nvidia application (download from Nvidia’s website) aims to unify previously scattered settings in several places. Firstly, the application fully replaces Nvidia Experience, secondly, it will now partially replace the Nvidia Control Panel.

The Nvidia app is designed for graphics cards with a chip from Nvidia and not only does it have the functionality of Experience, but it also offers a few good extras. With the full-fledged release, Nvidia de facto ends the Experience environment, in practice you can continue to use it, but you will no longer receive new functions – they will go to the Nvidia application. And honestly, there’s not much reason to use Nvidia Experience anymore, the new app is better and will soon become the main experience for controlling Nvidia graphics cards. How to get to know it and what does it offer?

Simple environment

The main advantages of the Nvidia application are two – simplicity and the end of the need to log in. Nvidia Experience required a login and that was the main reason why many users, including myself, never used the software. I prefer to keep my drivers up to date myself and not install additional software for it. But this is no longer the case with the Nvidia Application.

You don’t need to log in for almost full functionality, but it is needed if you buy a bundle of games and graphics cards. You need to be logged in to pick up the game, but AMD Rewards also requires logging in, so Nvidia isn’t doing anything unusual here. Otherwise, you do not need to create an account.

Now for simplicity, the environment itself is modern and intuitive, at the same time it has significantly faster reactions and response compared to the Nvidia Control Panel. On the left side there are tabs, into which the individual functions are very purposefully divided – significantly better than with the control panel.

The first Home tab is a signpost to the library, and here Nvidia reminds us what other tools it offers for its graphics. This is GeForce Now game streaming, but Nvidia Broadcast is more interesting for gamers and streamers, there is also Omniverse for creators, FrameView for overclocking or diagnostics and ChatRTX, which we discussed earlier.

In any case, in the future it will be interesting to see if other functions from these currently separate applications do not make their way into the Nvidia application. I can imagine that Broadcast could be just another tab in this app. Nvidia is still working on the app at the moment, so new features will be added. As you can see on the screenshots, Czech is already available.
