Léon Marchand, Victor Wembanyama, Teddy Riner … all the Olympic athletes are gathered in France for the 2024 Olympic Games. And to take them to the different locations of the events, the committee has to use vehicles, in order to avoid any potential mishaps. To do this, the organizers have trusted Toyota. Find out which vehicles the manufacturer is transporting the competitors!

Toyota transports athletes to the 2024 Olympics

The Toyota group is one of the main partners of the Paris Olympic Games. It has even been designated as the official mobility partner. This is why the master of hybrid technology for over 30 years is responsible for transporting athletes between the Olympic village and the various event locations, spread across the Île-de-France and mainland France. In total, the manufacturer has made more than 2,650 of the group’s electrified vehicles available to athletes and organizers, including 150 intended for people with reduced mobility (PRM).
It features Toyota’s flagship products, such as the Yaris Cross city SUV and the Corolla sedan. For people with reduced mobility, the manufacturer’s Proace utility vehicle is responsible for transportation. In addition to having the famous Paris 2024 sticker, which allows them to drive on the Olympic tracks, the models dedicated to transporting athletes are adorned with the Games logo on their doors.
But the Toyota group is not just a manufacturer. Lexus models, a brand also belonging to the group, have also been chartered. In addition to this partnership, the RATP has provided buses to transport the largest teams. Finally, with a bit of luck, you might also come across athletes on public transport. On the metro lines for example.

60% electric vehicles

In an effort to ensure green mobility, 60% of the vehicles made available to the 2024 Olympic Games by Toyota are electric. This fleet includes Toyota bZ4X, the Japanese manufacturer’s electric SUV, as well as Lexus RZs. There are even hydrogen vehicles, with the presence of the Toyota Mirai. The hydrogen fuel cell family car is one of the models dedicated to the mobility of today and tomorrow. It works in the same way as an electric car. Except that it does not recharge, but fills up with hydrogen, as you would fill up with gasoline at the pump, in less than 5 minutes. Of course, it is certified zero emissions. In 2021, it also set the official record for the longest distance traveled in a single trip for a vehicle of this type, with 1,360 km traveled.
Less well known to the general public, Toyota also offers 700 individual mobility products, to move around the event venues. Called C+Walk, it is a sort of 3-wheeled Segway or electric scooter. There are two versions, one standing and one seated. Already present at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, Toyota is also installing its APMs in Paris. Named e-Palette, it is an electric battery vehicle with automated driving.
