The list published annual statistics of the most searched words and phrases for the past year 2024. This year, the company divided the most searched phrases into different categories through images, from which you can read what was most searched for in which industry.
Last year’s floods, rabies in the Czech Republic, the September elections or perhaps President Petr Pavel’s banknote occupied the list of the most searched phrases in general. Among famous personalities, Czechs were most interested in actress Jana Kolesárová, actress Pavla Tomicová or dancer Richard Hes.
“Interest in searching on the Seznam.cz home page remains stable for a long time. Every second Czech uses this service every month, and several million user queries are directed to the search field. Seznam.cz has a unique position in the Czech Republic – even after 19 years, its search maintains its ability to compete with a global player.” says Michal Sedláček, manager of the Seznam.cz data team.
Sport reigns supreme among leisure activities
Various sporting events attack the first ranks of search engines every year, and last year was no exception. The year 2024 included the most Euro 2024 football championships and ice hockey, Wimbledon or the cycling Giro d’Italia. Immediately after sports, surprisingly, people were most interested in the Christmas markets and Flora in Olomouc or the Havířovské festivities.
Samsung on phones and movies Czech Waves
In the product category, people asked the most about the Samsung Galaxy A55 smartphone, the Warner TV channel or a drink from YouTuber Tara. On the contrary, the Czech film Vlny by director Jiří Mádl dominated the cinematography (completely unexpectedly).
