Deadpool & Wolverinein French movie theaters since July 24, 2024, does not escape the post-credits scene. Is it teasing the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Deadpool & Wolverine couldn’t escape it, especially since the superhero played by Ryan Reynolds was picked up by Disney after the Fox buyout. His third film adventure, in French theaters since Wednesday, July 24, 2024, includes a scene at the very end of the credits (yes, you have to wait).
Does the sequence in question tease the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), now that Deadpool is part of it? This seems to be a more than possible hypothesis. It’s a bit of a tradition for other films produced by Marvel. We explain everything to you.

What the post-credits scene of Deadpool & Wolverine
Tribute to the X-Men
Note that the credits pay homage to the X-Men films by showing sequences interspersed with making-of.
Let’s temper expectations right away: the post-credits scene of Deadpool & Wolverine won’t revolutionize the MCU. It doesn’t even hint at a brighter future for the empire Marvel and Disney have created. It ties into one of the film’s — best — cameos and turns it into a running gag.
Arriving in the Vortex, described as a multiverse dump for characters we no longer want, Deadpool and Wolverine think they’re meeting a version of Captain America. However, Evans is actually donning the costume of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, a member of the Fantastic Four. It’s a nod to the actor’s early superhero career, which saw him star in two mediocre films before finding fame as Captain America. According to the rules of the multiverse, Evans cheated by playing two different characters — which is how he ended up in the Vortex (which is kind of funny).
Johnny Storm is part of the resistance who are trying to overthrow the tyranny led by Cassandra Nova, the great villain of Deadpool & Wolverine. He gets disintegrated by the main person concerned when Deadpool reveals all the insults he would have made about her. Wolverine then holds him responsible, believing that Deadpool forced the line.
In the post-credits scene, Deadpool tries to prove that Johnny Storm actually said everything he repeated in Cassandra Nova’s ear (by reviewing the images from a TVA office), in order to absolve himself of any form of responsibility. In short, this moment of a few seconds really doesn’t serve much purpose and only serves to support a gag. It’s a shame, since we would have loved so much that Deadpool & Wolverine hooks up the wagons with what’s in store for the future of the MCU.
