Popular navigation app Waze is experiencing a technical issue that has caused confusion and frustration among users around the world.
Since a recent update, a bug persistent causes the language settings to change randomly without user intervention.
The bug affects not only the audio instructions, but also the app’s interface and main settings, which has led to bizarre situations, such as the sudden display of instructions in Hebrew or Russian.
Google confirms the problem
Representatives of Waze’s parent company have acknowledged the existence of the bug.
A Google spokesperson confirmed to international media that “some Waze users are experiencing language selection issues” and added that the situation is a priority for the team.

On social media, users started posting screenshots and videos to show how the Waze app changes the navigation language unexpectedly.
One frustrated user mentioned that since morning everything was working normally, but later the navigation instructions started to be in Hebrew. Others have reported that the language changes during the trip, forcing them to constantly adjust the settings.
The bug appears to be present on both iOS and Android platforms.
From innovation to complications
Originally launched in 2006 as Freemap Israel, Waze quickly became one of the most used navigation apps in the world.
Acquired by Google in 2013 for approximately one billion euros, the application benefited from integration with Google Maps, which allowed it to improve the accuracy and speed of updating routes.
However, the recent bug negatively affects the user experience and raises questions about the latest updates to the app.
In addition to the language error, there were other problems, such as a GPS that works intermittently, car icons that appear as taxis, and voice commands that give misses.
User loyalty
Waze enjoys a loyal community of users who actively contribute to reporting traffic conditions, speed cameras and accidents.
While Google continues to promise a fix, some users choose to manually reset their language settings.
