Boarding a combine harvester is not just a visit to the farm, it is a total immersion in the agricultural world. Participants will be able to discover how these impressive machines work and the different stages of the harvest. This experience allows us to understand the issues and challenges facing farmers today.
Jean-François Loiseau, President of Intercéréales, emphasizes: “ The French love their farmers, but rarely have the opportunity to see their daily workWe wanted to take advantage of this emblematic moment that is the harvest, to strengthen the links between the agricultural world and the French. “. This is why Intercéréales is organizing this unique event. This initiative also offers moments of sharing and conviviality with farmers, who are passionate professionals. It is an opportunity to discuss, exchange and understand the daily lives of those who work to feed the nation.
How to participate in the event?
To participate, nothing could be simpler: go to the site www.moissonneuse.fr. Using an interactive map, you can locate the farmer closest to you and get in touch to arrange an appointment during the harvest period. The operation is free, making it accessible to all. The harvests take place in July and August, their duration depending on the regions and weather conditions.
The idea of showing harvests from the inside is not new. It was launched in 2018 by David Forge, a farmer who was the first to have the idea of showing his profession in a different way. His initiative quickly met with resounding success, and this year, for the first time, it is taking on a national dimension thanks to the massive participation of farmers.
