What if you’re an advanced user? Write ChatGPT for free with Windows Terminal Nightly version

A month ago, OpenAI released a Windows app for ChatGPT that allows you to use AI chatbots on desktop PCs without running them in a browser tab. However, because it was an ‘early version’ only for paid subscribers, many users did not receive the benefits.

Fortunately, there is a way to use ChatGPT on Windows without paying for a premium plan: install the Windows Terminal Nightly version.

Windows Terminal is a free app provided by Microsoft that is essentially a faster, more modern, powerful, and efficient alternative to the Command Prompt, but is also easier to access and use than PowerShell, which is designed for power users.

After installing Windows Terminal Canary, you need to enable support for ‘Terminal Chat’ in the menu and then add an API key from OpenAI, GitHub or Azure.
