Samsung Pass is Samsung’s password manager. We explain how it differs from Google password manager.
Samsung Pass is Samsung’s password manager, or perhaps rather login manager. Your usernames and passwords are saved here, mainly for apps that require login, but if you use Samsung’s browser, logins to web pages are also saved.
Most people probably log into an app once and then stay logged in, so the feature is most useful when you change phones. Then you can transfer your login information from one Samsung mobile to another. But note that you must first go into the settings of Samsung Pass and turn on the synchronization of logins, as this is turned off by default.
If you have synchronized your logins, when you open an app or website where you previously chose to save the login, you can identify yourself using your fingerprint or pin code.
Samsung Pass is a separate function but you will find the settings and saved logins under Samsung Wallet.
Differences to Google Password Manager: Google’s own function Password Manager works in a similar way, but when it comes to logins on the web but then for the Chrome browser. Like Samsung Pass, it doesn’t work with other browsers.
The main difference is that Google’s saved password allows you to log in without further verification if you are logged in to your Google account on the mobile. Samsung Pass thus has a layer of security against unwanted logins that Google lacks.
