New car registrations in Romania increased in October, compared to the same period last year. Here is the best-selling car in Romania in 2024 and which brands are in the Top 10.
New car registrations in Romania increased in October 2024, compared to the same period last year.
Approximately 1.4% more vehicles were sold compared to October 2023, states the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM). Thus, a total volume of 11,552 units was reached.
What is the best-selling car in Romania in 2024
In the first ten months of 2024, more than 127,000 new cars were registered. This represents an increase of over 4% compared to the same period in 2023, when just over 122,000 units were sold in Romania.
Of the new vehicles registered in the first 10 months of this year, 7,943 have full electric propulsion. Which represents a decrease of about 27% compared to the first 10 months of 2023.
In contrast, hybrid car registrations increased by more than 50%. In total, 48,322 units with hybrid propulsion were sold.
Second-hand car registrations also rose in October by more than 18 percent. 34,449 units were sold.
However, at the level of the whole year, registrations of second-hand vehicles in Romania registered a slight decrease. In the period January-October 2024, 270,548 second-hand cars were registered, which represents a decrease of 0.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Last year, in the first 10 months, approximately 271,100 units were registered.
The best-selling new car in Romania remains Dacia. In total, over 37,100 vehicles were sold this year. Toyota ranked second in Romanians’ preferences, with just over 11,000 vehicles sold. And Hyundai is in third position with about 8,760 units.
