However, uncertainty, stress, and unnecessary nervousness are not good for either the expectant mother or the baby. In addition, fears and anxieties usually arise from the fact that future parents do not have enough information and there are too many factors that increase uncertainty.

Prepare yourself physically and mentally

A truly relaxed pregnancy does not begin with conception, but in the weeks and months preceding it.

In order to tune in spiritually, talk a lot with your partner about starting a family, share your thoughts about family expansion, and find answers to the questions that arise together. One of the most important conditions for a calm conception and waiting for a baby is that both of you are at the stage of your life when you are open to the changes that the birth of a child brings.

In order to assess her health suitability, the expectant mother should undergo a gynecological examination, cancer screening, cytological examination, or with a targeted blood and urine test, to filter out well in advance whether there are any health problems that could endanger pregnancy or make conception difficult.

The father-to-be should sign up for an andrological appointment and a laboratory test, the first one provides information on fertility, the second one on general health.

During the preparation period, the unnecessary or it is worth stopping taking unavoidable medicines, of course after consulting a doctor.

Smoking, tobacco smoke and alcohol consumption should also be avoided.

It is best to start taking prenatal vitamins three months before the planned conception, since according to research, one third of congenital abnormalities can be prevented with multivitamins containing folic acid. In any case, until the 12th week, but according to our current knowledge, it is recommended to take the prenatal vitamin during the entire period of pregnancy, as this way the risk of premature birth can be reduced.

If you are over 37 years old, it is mandatory to take part in genetic counseling, and this consultation should also be held during the preparation period. However, experts recommend genetic counseling even before the age of 37, since with the information received here, the mother-to-be can rule out many uncertainties and worry less about the risks.
