What news awaits us in 2025

The next major version of the operating system for iPhone and iPad is in the works.

Codenamed ‘Luck’, iOS 19 will be available from autumn 2025, bringing a number of technological innovations.

The update focuses on improving artificial intelligence and privacy-related functionality, two important areas for the future of Apple’s ecosystem.

Release schedule

According to tradition, the company will reveal the first beta version for developers at the WWDC conference that will be held in June 2025, and the final version will reach users’ devices in September 2025, with the launch of the new iPhone 17 series.

However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently said that several major iOS 19 features won’t be available until spring 2026 via the iOS 19.4 update.

Siri reinvents itself

One of the changes is the complete transformation of the popular virtual assistant Siri.

After Apple admitted that it was about two years behind the competition in artificial intelligence, the company is now working to make up for this significant gap.

The new version will be equipped with advanced artificial intelligence models that will allow it to have much more natural conversations, similar to what ChatGPT or even Gemini offers.

Privacy remains first

As AI gains more and more ground, Apple seems determined to focus on protecting user data.

A key question that will dominate the discussions in 2025 is related to where the data needed for AI functions will be processed: locally, on the device or in the cloud.

The transition to the new era

Until the debut of these features, the Americans are preparing the ground with interim updates.

iOS 18.2, for example, will bring ChatGPT integration to Siri, and future updates will also include support for Google Gemini.

iOS 18.4 will improve Siri’s ability to understand visual context and provide more granular controls for apps.

With the full implementation of the new capabilities in iOS 19.4, iPhone users will have a much more capable virtual assistant at their disposal, eliminating the need to turn to external services like Gemini or ChatGPT for complex conversational tasks.
