Shakib Al Hasan in discussion again. The Bangladesh team went to West Indies to play the full series without drying the wounds of the ODI series loss against Afghanistan. Nazmul Shantar’s team will play a three-match ODI series against the Caribbean during the tour. Discussions are going on whether Shakib will play in this upcoming series or not.
He has played the last match in T20. Shakib Al Hasan wanted to retire in Tests after playing against South Africa at home. But the Tiger all-rounder could not play the farewell match in the white clothes in the end due to security issues. Shakib, who has retired from Tests and T20Is, wants to bid farewell to the national team by playing the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan in February-March next year.
But Shakib was not in the squad for the last three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates. He pulled himself out of the Afghan series citing personal reasons. No one is sure whether Shakib will be available for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.
At an event in the capital on Saturday (November 16), Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmood responded to a question about Shakib’s absence from the West Indies tour.
At that time Asif was saying, ‘You see the Cricket Board is an autonomous body. I have given my suggestion, a situation has arisen in Mirpur with the last game, I have certainly given a suggestion and the cricket board has taken action accordingly, you know. The cricket board will take a decision going forward. In that case, if I have any advice to give, I will give it in the context of that time.’
Bangladesh team has already reached West Indies and will play Test, ODI and T20 series there. Bangladesh will play the first Test of the 2-match series on November 22. The second match of the series will be on November 30. After that, the three-match ODI series will be played on December 8, 10 and 12 respectively. Then there will be a three-match T20 series. Which will be built on the field on December 16, 18 and 20 respectively.
