While the Oppo Pad 3 Pro, launched last month as a rebranded version of the OnePlus Pad 2, has already made its way into the premium segment, the Chinese manufacturer is preparing to unveil the standard version of the tablet.
It will be presented at the same event where the midrange phones from the Reno13 series will also debut.
Impressive specs for its class
The tablet will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor, a chip that, although not yet officially launched, promises to be a solid choice.
The 11.6-inch display uses LCD technology and offers a 2.8K resolution, and the refresh rate could reach 144Hz.
Slim design and generous battery
The model has a thickness of only 6.29 mm and a weight of 533 grams.
These dimensions make it thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Pad 2.
Despite the slim profile, the tablet comes with a generous 9,510 mAh battery that supports fast charging at 67W via SuperVOOC technology, a feature borrowed from the Pro model.
Comparison with the previous generation
Compared to the Oppo Pad 2, which used the flagship Dimensity 9000 processor, the new model takes a step back in terms of raw processing power.
However, it retains the same top-notch specifications on the display and charging side. It is interesting to note that its predecessor is available internationally as the OnePlus Pad, at a price of around $450 (equivalent to €423).
Smart market strategy
The Chinese company’s decision to release the Pro version first and then the standard model seems to be part of a larger strategy.
By combining a premium ultra-slim design with balanced technical specifications, the new tablet positions itself as an attractive alternative for both those looking for something that can be easily handled wherever they go, as well as those on a budget.
It remains to be seen what the price and availability will be in different markets, but the Oppo Pad 3 promises to be an interesting choice for users looking for an Android tablet with modern specifications and a premium design, without paying the price of a flagship model.
