Drivers who exceed the speed limit on the A1, A2 and DN2 motorways will receive the fine at home. The Romanian Police activated the e-SIGUR system, and the first devices were installed on these roads. Here’s how the new radars look and work.
The Romanian Police implemented the first radars / fixed speed detection devices.
What the new speed cameras of the Traffic Police look like
They are part of the e-SIGUR system, which will monitor the main roads in Romania.
Drivers who exceed the speed on the A1, A2 and DN2 will receive the fine at home.
The Romanian Police announced, through a message on Facebook, the activation of the first devices from the e-SIGUR system.
„The new e-SIGUR system is active! How does it work? Mobile cameras (known as radar guns), located at the side of the road, record traffic activity in the area under surveillance. The recordings are sent and analyzed by the police. Violations are sanctioned according to the law, after the identification of the driver. The fine is sent directly to the driver’s home, without the need to stop in traffic“, it is stated in a post on the Facebook page of the Romanian Police.
Where the e-Sigur system is active:
- A1 highway;
- Autostrada A2;
- National Road DN2 – Vrancea county.
The system is to be expanded to the whole country, once the Police will acquire new devices.
How the e-SIGUR system works
Thus, drivers who break the speed limit and are recorded by these devices, will receive the fine at home.
Based on the video images captured by the radar, a police officer will determine who the owner of the vehicle is. Then, it will send him, by mail, a request to decline the identity of the driver.
The owner of the vehicle has the obligation to submit the identity data of the person who drove the car at the time he exceeded the speed limit.
Once the identity of the driver has been established, the Police will send him, also by mail, the sanction ordered. If the driver’s license was ordered to be withheld, the driver has the obligation to hand over the document to the police station that ordered the sanction.
