In the first morning program of Äripää radio of the year, we discuss what the year 2025 will bring to Estonia’s retail trade, the logistics sector and the economy as a whole.

With Kaspar Oja, the economist of Eesti Pank who also advises the president, we will talk at 8 o’clock about the effect of the repair of the undersea cable, which is expected to last seven months, on Estonia’s competitiveness and the stock exchange price of electricity, and we will discuss how, in this light, Eesti Pank’s latest economic forecast has stood the test of time.

Statistics Estonia will publish fresh numbers on November retail trade sales volumes on Thursday morning. Nele Peil, the CEO of the Estonian Merchants’ Association, tries to find out how much the numbers of car sales shine through Black Friday, the earlier acquisition of Christmas purchases, as well as before the tax comes into force. We also try to predict what Estonian retail and wholesale will be like in 2025, affected by tax increases.

We will summarize the year of the logistics sector with Urmas Uudemetsa, CEO of Via 3L, with whom we will talk about the progress and prospects of the sector at 9 o’clock. We will also find out what decisions the company has made in difficult times and whether more mergers and takeovers are expected in the logistics sector.

Äripää foreign editor Indrek Lepik and I look back at the eventful year 2024 and predict how the geopolitical power lines will develop in the coming year.

11.00 – 12.00 “Under the magnifying glass”.

In the first show of the year, “Under the magnifying glass”, journalists investigating Äripää examine the biggest and most influential articles of the past year. We are discussing the helping hand of the Social Research Institute funded by Parvel Pruunsilla to Fatherland, tapping the conscience of Armin Karu. In addition, about EKRE’s internal correspondence and tricks in the defense forces and the defense union. 12.00 – 13.00 “Digital Smart Business”.

In the show, managers of accounting offices talk about the revolutionary changes. We are primarily talking about artificial intelligence and new technologies that will lead accounting into a new era. We look at the future of accounting with managers and find out what changes managers, accountants and accounting service providers need to prepare for and how.

We will find out if and how to use artificial intelligence to prepare sustainability reports, where and why artificial intelligence should not be trusted in accounting, what skills will make an accountant indispensable in the future labor market, how the roles of accountants will change and much more.

The managers’ discussion is recorded at the conference “What will change in the work of an accountant in 2025?”

13.00 – 14.00 “Lesson”.

The guests of the first show of the new year will be the representatives of the top three companies of the TOP training companies of Äripää 2024: Hannela Tamagno, co-owner of Multilingua Keelekeskus and project manager of language learning tourism; Kristel Toomel, co-owner and trainer of KeeleLabor and Kaja Põld, manager of Keeltekeskus Kaja. We are talking about language learning, but also about the wider training market and the factors affecting it. The presenter is Katre Savi.
