What you can see at Bucharest Days


Events for all tastes. Bucharest Days, which mark 565 years since the first documentary attestation of the city, will be celebrated this weekend with concerts, theater performances, exhibitions and interactive activities, ARCUB reported.

The events will take place both at the ARCUB headquarters – Hanul Gabroveni, as well as in emblematic locations in the center of the Capital.

In George Enescu Square, the program of the 12th edition of the Bucharest Music Film Festival will include, between September 20-22, performances by prestigious ensembles and artists, according to ARCUB.

On Friday, the Radio Romania Big Band and the Radio Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Simona Strungaru, together with Mircea Baniciu, Ovidiu Lipan Șăndărică, Teo Boar and Vlady Cnejevici will perform a concert from 20:00.

On Saturday, from 7:00 p.m., the New Hope Orchestra, led by Octavian Lup, together with violinist Valentin Şerban and soprano Veronica Anuşca, will transmit “a message of harmony and solidarity through music” during the “Romania for Peace” concert. financed by the Ministry of Culture.

The National Radio Orchestra, conducted by Cristian Spătaru, together with soprano Valentina Naforniţa, will mark the end of the twelfth edition of the festival, on Sunday, from 20:00, with a classical music concert.

The little ones are expected, on Sunday, at the workshop “Remi and the Adventure of Sounds: Drums and rhythm, small percussion instruments”, where they will be able to experience various sounds and rhythms, discovering instruments such as drums, maracas and tambourines.

As part of the “Open Streets” event, Calea Victoriei will be animated on Saturday and Sunday, between 10:00 and 21:00, with theater performances, moments of acrobatics and animation, live concerts, installations and art exhibitions, as well as activities interactive for children.

Between September 20-22, ARCUB offers art lovers the opportunity to visit, free of charge, the exhibitions open in the premises of Gabroveni Inn, from Lipscani Street no. 84-90.

The “Doru Drăguşin Retrospective” exhibition offers the public the opportunity to discover over 50 works by one of the most important Romanian sculptors. The Vaulted Hall of the Gabroveni Inn, open between 12:00 and 20:00, offers visitors the opportunity to admire works of bronze and wood sculpture, graphics and painting that reflect part of the artist’s career.

The exhibition “Catalyst of Beginnings”, hosted by ARCUB – Hanul Gabroveni, presents works from the field of visual arts and includes photographs, paintings, sculptures, installations, video, graphics, drawing and digital formats made by 50 young students or graduates of some faculties of art or architecture, select from a number of 300 participants. The visiting hours are between 12:00 and 20:00.

“Chisinau on the red line” is an exhibition that documents the historical architecture of the capital of the Republic of Moldova and includes informative texts, collages from old and recent photographs, objects, posters and works, audio and video recordings, regarding the state of preservation of the buildings. The exhibition can be visited between 12:00 and 20:00.

Elite Art Gallery hosts the “Balchik Art Residency” exhibition, with works that capture the essence of the Mediterranean place, reinterpreted through new artistic languages.

The Great Hall of the Gabroveni Inn will host the comedy “RESPIRO – Vacation on the Roof”, directed by Corina Dragomir, on Saturday, from 19:00.

At the same time, on Saturday and Sunday, the public is invited to “Urban Explorers – Night Session”, a foray into the history of Bucharest, through guided tours, skits, workshops dedicated to children and an exhibition of retro cars. Thus, on Friday, from 5:30 p.m., retro cars will be presented on Jean Louis Calderon Street in Capital, in an exhibition made in collaboration with ARCUB, with the support of Retromobil Club Romania.

The mayor Nicusor Dan announced that on Bucharest Days, one of the most appreciated artists of the moment, DJ Mahmut Orhan, will mix on Saturday in Piața Constituției, at the opening of iMapp Bucharest. On Sunday, the Subcarpathians will take the stage. Entry is free.

As the evening falls, on Saturday, iMapp Bucharest – Winners League reached its 9th edition, presents to the public the best and most talented artists in the field, who compete for the iMapp Bucharest 2024 Grand Prize, through 3D video works that creatively explore the theme of the edition, LEGACY, says the mayor.
