WhatsApp Black: an even darker theme is coming. The images

The most popular messaging app in the world, WhatsAppis preparing for a major aesthetic update, introducing a even darker version of its famous dark mode. The novelty, identified in the beta version 2.24.22.4 for Android, represents a significant step forward in user interface design.

WhatsApp: increasingly dark

The most noticeable change concerns the background color of the application, which goes from the current #0b141a to a deeper #0a1014. While the difference may seem minimal at first glance, this update promises to deliver a more refined and comfortable viewing experience, especially when using the app at night.

The change is not limited to just the background: The entire chat display system is rethought, with message bubbles and default backgrounds taking on darker shades. This intervention aims to improve overall readability and reduce eye strain, an aspect particularly appreciated by users who frequently use the app in low light conditions.

The update is part of a larger one interface customization strategywhich recently saw the introduction of 20 new color options for chat themes in beta version 2.24.21.34. This move highlights WhatsApp’s commitment to giving users more control over the visual appearance of the application.

At the moment, the new dark mode shade is only accessible to a select group of beta testers who use the latest version of WhatsApp beta on Android devices through the Google Play Store. However, according to previews from WABetaInfo – the reference portal for platform news – the rollout should progressively extend to a greater number of users in the coming weeks.

Sources close to the development suggest that this update it is just the beginning of a series of aesthetic improvements planned for the future, with the aim of keeping WhatsApp up to date with the latest digital design trends.
