WhatsApp users take note: The messenger simplifies the process of creating groups and communities and finally gives users more control over animated emojis in chats.
With Connect to AI, WhatsApp is currently working on a feature that will make it easier to manage chats for business accounts. The use of AI for communication has already met with criticism on other platforms, especially LinkedIn – it remains to be seen to what extent the function on WhatsApp will be accepted by users after the official launch. In the meantime, the platform is working in parallel on a few other functions that will ensure a clearer and personalized platform experience. We’ll introduce you to the innovations.
Now it’s even easier to create groups and communities
The WhatsApp Communities, launched worldwide in 2022, enable companies, clubs and other organizations to bring together and organize multiple WhatsApp groups. For example, several groups on different topics can be brought together in one place. Now WhatsApp wants to simplify the creation process for communities and groups. The first beta testers will be informed via a banner that they will be able to create these in the future via the Chats tab, as can be seen in the following screenshots from the WhatsApp-specialized publisher WABetaInfo.

By moving the creation option for chats, groups and communities to a common location in the app, WhatsApp not only simplifies the user experience, but also removes the annoying action button in the communities tab. In addition, the innovation could allow more users to access the communities Feature should be made aware, which could increase the use of the function.
Finally more control over animations in chat
Another feature in the test phase should make many users happy: WhatsApp is working on giving users more control over the animations in their chats. As part of the test, users can decide for themselves whether emojis, stickers and GIFs should be displayed animatedly in the app. This means that annoying animations that can distract from the content of the chat are a thing of the past.

It is currently not known when WhatsApp plans to fully launch the new functions. However, the first users should already have access to this. Meanwhile, everyone else can enjoy a long-awaited feature that the platform released at the end of last year: voice messages can finally not only be heard, but also read via transcription.
