iPhone users might get an Airdrop-like feature for WhatsApp
In the beta version, the app allows you to send files directly to nearby devices using WhatsApp, even when there is a weak internet connection.
To transfer files, a QR code is generated that you will need to scan with the other device. For Android devices, users had to depend on the detection of nearby devices. Data could be shared between Android and iOS devices with this feature as it is expected to facilitate cross-platform sharing.
WhatsApp has been working on features that make cross-platform sharing more convenient. WhatsApp is also reportedly testing a new chat transfer option that would allow users to transfer them from one device to another without requiring uploading to storage services like Google Drive.
There is currently no release date for this new feature in WhatsApp, as this Airdrop-like functionality is still in the early stages of development.
