WhatsApp not working as it should? 5 solutions that always work

WhatsApp is the most widespread platform of its kind | photo: own

WhatsApp is among the most popular applications of its kind, and the services of this messenger are used by approximately 2.8 billion users worldwide. Like other platforms of similar size, WhatsApp is bound to experience an outage or problem that affects the connection from time to time. However, the problem does not always have to be on the provider’s side. What to do if WhatsApp is not working as it should?

Check if WhatsApp is online

This is the first and main check in case WhatsApp stops working. On the Downdetector website, it is very convenient to find out whether the WhatsApp servers are working as they should and whether everything is fully available. You can also find outages reported in the last 24 hours, but if this site shows that everything is fine, it’s time to try looking for the error somewhere else.

Check for updates

WhatsApp may show unusual behavior or crashes due to the fact that the application is not up-to-date and you are using an older version of it. In general, it is important to keep the applications on your phone so-called “up to date”, and WhatsApp is no exception. Checking is easy, open Google Play, find the app there, open its tab and see immediately if it needs to update or not.

Restart the phone / application

It may happen that there is something left “hanging” in the application, or somewhere in the phone’s cache, that is causing problems. Therefore, try restarting your mobile by holding down the power button and the volume up button at the same time. Then press restart. If that doesn’t help, try searching for WhatsApp directly in your phone settings, click Force Quit, and then launch it again.

Allow all permissions

Problems can also stem from WhatsApp not having all permissions granted. It is quite enough if you “click” at the first launch and deny the application, for example, access to contacts, or disable background data. Therefore, go to the phone settings, find the WhatsApp tab in it, and after clicking on the Permissions item, you will see what is allowed and what is prohibited.

Background data

Another important element is background data, which of course must be enabled for WhatsApp to function properly. How to make sure of it? Go to phone settings again, then find WhatsApp (ideally via full text search) and click on Mobile data and WiFi. In it, you will find out whether you have mobile data active or not.

We believe that our guide will help you solve any problems you may have with WhatsApp. We note, however, that the market is full of different mobile phones with Android, or iPhones, therefore we cannot guarantee that the instructions will always work on every device.
