- WhatsApp is about to add a new image search feature
- It integrates it into the options menu when viewing the image
- It will use the capabilities of the Google search engine
WhatsApp has recently adopted the conversation lists feature and started experimenting with faster access to the gallery. In the meantime, beta version testers have managed to discover another handy gadget with which the popular kid can play he plays a bit of a detective. He will use it capabilities of the Google search engine.
The WABetaInfo server pointed out the new “Search on web” button (search the web) that appears after clicking the options menu when viewing an image. Based on the so-called reverse search, it allows you to find out the origin of the received image or the additional context associated with it.
In terms of user privacy, using the feature will not share an image with Meta, the company that runs WhatsApp. Of course, its content will be visible to Google search engines.
The novelty will probably be in its own way an alternative to Google Lensor to its simplified and more practical version in the form of Circle to Search. It is currently being rolled out to some users using the beta version of the app, while it will probably reach the rest of the people in the coming weeks.
Would you like this feature in WhatsApp?
