It can be said that AI systems have now become part of every industry, giving it new capabilities or creating various benefits. The same goes for the beauty industry. A source revealed that AmorePacific, a large cosmetics company from South Korea, has unveiled an AI robot that is capable of analyzing each user’s skin tone to accurately recommend cosmetics that are suitable for each person’s skin type. It also has a function to mix foundation and lipstick colors to make them suitable.
The development principle is that the company started by training an AI system to learn about human skin conditions from the data that the company has collected in its database for over 78 years, along with a system for scanning users’ skin from store counters, in order to process and recommend cosmetic products that are directly related to the customer’s skin characteristics.
The method of use is that customers must take a selfie, then AI will process and select the color code that is most suitable for you. There are many options for you to decide on. If it is not found in the database at all, the robotic arm will mix a new color based on the overall database to select the color number that best matches your skin condition.
The technology won the Innovation Award in the Robotics category at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023). Currently, the personalized cosmetic product recommendation service using AI is actually available in department stores at the counters in front of AmorePacific stores, and it is so popular that the queues are full.
