It’s been a month since, instead of celebrating the jubilee hundredth triumph in her career, she had to go to the hospital and later undergo an operation after a nasty fall. When will she return to the slopes is currently a question to which even she herself does not know the answer.

Mikaela Shiffrin is still recovering from a nasty fall she suffered in late November at her home in Killington.
She was only a few meters away from reaching the finish line of the giant slalom, defending her lead from the 1st round and celebrating her historic 100th victory in the World Cup series.
But fate arranged it differently. The first reports after the fall were optimistic and the best skier in the world planned only a short break.
But then complications appeared. The native of Colorado had to go under the scalpel, during the procedure, surgeons attached the damaged oblique muscle to the pelvic bone.
As in the case of Petra Vlhová, Shiffrinova also has the possibility that if the recovery does not go according to plan, the American superstar will not get on competitive skis until next season.
The two-time Olympic champion and five-time overall World Cup winner recently gave an interview to Gear Junkie portal .
She admitted that when she uses her abdominal muscles, she feels a significant amount of pain.
“For example, when I laugh or cough. It still hurts quite a bit then. Sometimes I have to help myself with a smaller dose of lidocaine (local anesthetic, note). But otherwise I feel fine, it could have turned out worse,” she said.
Since he is still undergoing rehabilitation, he has to forget about training on snow for now. If everything goes according to plan, she could start skiing in February. Otherwise, she is in danger of attacking victory with serial number 100 only in the next season.

In the interview, she admitted that she sometimes thinks about what she will do after her career ends. He will celebrate his 30th birthday next year in March.
“What will happen after the career? I think I just want to “simply” exist in life – with honesty and kindness to others and a willingness to be open to others. It’s important to connect with the fans and connect with the media and connect with everyone who wants to tell stories about the sport and share this sport with the world.
I don’t think it’s about the link, but I’m really passionate about skiing. I try more and more to share it with the world as much as possible and to make skiing more accessible to more people, because I consider skiing to be a great gift in my life. I feel that my love for skiing could benefit many people physically, mentally and emotionally,” Shiffrin added.
Fans on social networks expressed their support, some even expressed a degree of concern.
“I pray that Mikael’s health obeys and that she can return to skiing,” wrote one supporter. “Mikaela, you are a champion, you will definitely find the strength to come back even stronger,” was another of the reactions.
Today, the women’s ski world cup has the last race of the calendar year on the program, the venue for the classic slalom is Semmering (1st round – 10:30 a.m., 2nd round – 1:30 p.m.).
