iOS 18.4 will be the first major iOS update in 2025, since iOS 18.3 seems to be limited to internal improvements that the user will barely notice. When will iOS 18.4 Beta 1 arrive? Based on previous releases, such as iOS 17.4 Beta 1 on January 25, 2024, iOS 16.4 Beta 1 on February 16, 2023, and iOS 15.4 Beta 1 on January 27, 2022, iOS 18.4 Beta 1 is likely to be available at the end of January 2025shortly after the release of iOS 18.3. Initially, this Beta could be limited to devices compatible with Apple Intelligence, as happened with the iOS 18.1 and 18.2 Betas, while support for other devices would arrive in Beta 2 or Beta 3 versions.
iOS 18.4 is expected to be focused on improvements related to Siri and Apple Intelligence. According to the information we have, Apple Intelligence will expand to the European Union (finally), allowing you to change default applications such as Maps and Translator, although this function would be exclusive to Europe. In addition, Apple Intelligence will add support for new languages, such as Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese and Vietnamese. Siri will also receive important improvements (hallelujah), and in addition to being truly intelligent, it will be able to recognize the content that appears on the screen and perform actions related to that content. Siri’s responses will be more personalized thanks to the use of information obtained from photos, calendars, messages and other applications in a process that will occur within the device, so privacy will be guaranteed. Other new features include more specific requests in applications, such as deleting specific emails, moving notes between folders, sharing links by email, opening documents or even summarizing articles.
Finally, Apple Intelligence will implement a semantic index on the device, which will allow information from emails, photos, websites and applications to be processed and stored, improving the user experience. To all this we must add All Apple Smart features released in iOS 18.1 and 18.2which are not yet available in Europe.
