In September and October, parking at two locations in the capital became chargeable. We checked how parking is organized at the Ljubljana Zoo and in Šiška. We are also following the regime of issuing annual parking permits for residents for the coming year, which will be presented at the press conference of the Municipality of Ljubljana (MOL) at 11 am.
In mid-October, the Ljubljana City Municipality introduced a new area in Šiška, between Celovška cesta, Jama Street and Šišenska and Vodnikova cesta, where parking is subject to payment.
The area belongs to zone 3, where the parking fee must be paid from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The price of parking is EUR 0.50 per hour.
There are four parking meters on Pavšičeva Street, and two on Tugomerjeva Street. The Municipality of Ljubljana has announced that, after the end of the regulation of the traffic regime, seven additional parking meters will be installed in this area. The parking fee can also be paid with an Urbana card or via the Urbana SMS parking service.
For the residents of the streets there, MOL has prepared special annual permits that allow unlimited parking. It can be purchased by anyone who has a registered permanent or temporary residence at Gospodinska, Scopolijeva, Pavšičeva, Tugomerjeva, Derčeva, Sternenova, Freyerjeva Street, Trg Pokomorskih Brigad, Martina Krpana Street and Kneza Koclja Street. Permits can also be purchased by all residents with an odd house number on Šišenska cesta and residents of Vodnikova cesta from house numbers 52 to 133. The price of an annual permit is 60 euros, and residents can obtain a maximum of three permits per housing unit.
From September, parking is also paid for in the parking lots next to the zoo. There is a fee for both the gravel and the recently asphalted parking lot along Večna poti 121. There is one parking meter there, and two are located opposite the entrance to the zoo. The area is part of zone 3, where you have to pay for parking from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the price of parking is 0.50 euros per hour.
When paying the entrance fee to the zoo, visitors are validated with a parking ticket, which allows free parking for three hours. Any excesses must be paid by visitors at the parking meters.
Whether changes are expected in the area of implementing annual parking permits for next year, more will be known after the press conference of the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, at which he will also speak Bojan Babičdirector of the public company Ljubljana parking lots and markets, which manages parking lots in the capital.
