Before buying a home printer, it is worth considering a number of aspects in order to find the most suitable model for us. Whether we want to print documents, photos, school assignments or recipes, choosing the right printer can save us money and time in the long run. Printers intended for home use today have many different functions that can satisfy both simpler and more complex needs. Which types of printers should you choose for your home if you want to print economically? We show you what you should pay attention to when making a decision, and how we can find the device that best suits our everyday needs.

Although in the digital world we already transfer or store many things online, there are still situations where it is useful to be able to quickly print at home. It may be an urgent document that needs to be signed and mailed, because digital signatures are not accepted. Or the child’s school assignment, digital education here or there, which of course has to be done the next morning, but at 10pm we can’t print anywhere. And of course there are hobbies that require printing, be it creative activity with frequent photo printing or even printing recipes for cooking. And if we run an office at home or often work from home, we will definitely need a printer with a larger capacity.

5 factors that are important to consider when buying a printer for your home!

Before choosing a home printer, it is worth considering several aspects in order to find the type that best suits our needs. We have collected the five most important factors that need to be considered before buying!

1. Printing needs: what and how much will you print?

  • Occasional printing: if you rarely use the printer, a simpler inkjet printer may also be suitable.
  • Frequent printing: if you print a lot, you should consider a laser printer, which is faster and more economical for larger quantities.
  • Color printing: if it is important to be able to print in color (for example, photos or graphs), then a color inkjet or laser printer can be considered.
  • Black and white printing: if you mainly print documents, a black and white laser printer may be ideal as it is cheaper and faster than color printers.

2. Should the printer be simple or multifunctional?

This is a far from simple question. Even if you choose a printer for your home, it is worth considering which functions are practical for you or other family members for frequent use. Maybe you don’t need a monster office duplex in your home office, but scanning as a function can come in handy. It can already be found among smaller home printers MFP, i.e. multifunction printerswhich both scan and copy. THE wireless connection is also a useful function, especially if you use another laptop, tablet or phone in addition to the “company” laptop. It is much easier to connect your mobile via Wi-Fi and print some photos than to search for the one cable that is compatible with both the phone and the printer.

A double-sided printingt as a function is worth thinking about because it is not only economical in terms of paper consumption, but also very practical. You don’t have to hang around the printer for hours and turn the pages one by one to print or scan, which, let’s face it, becomes a nerve-wracking activity very quickly. If you often print multi-page documents for which two-sided printing is not a problem, then it is worth considering duplex printers when making your decision.

3. Maintenance costs

Ink cartridge or toner: inkjet printers are generally cheaper, but ink cartridges run out faster and can be more expensive to replace. Toner cartridges for laser printers are more expensive, but last longer enable more economical printing at home.

Refilling the cartridge, although it may seem like a cost-saving solution, is not recommended! First, refilled cartridges often do not provide as good print quality as original manufacturer cartridges. A refilled cartridge may result in duller colors and poorer quality. Improper refilling can damage the printer, causing it to clog or leak, leading to expensive repairs. In addition, the manufacturer’s warranty may also be void if you use a non-manufacturer cartridge.

4. Print quality

Text documents laser printers print better quality, sharper text. The capacity is worth considering, as it is more practical even for home use if you don’t have to refill the paper feeder every minute. Or to take away the pages that have already been printed, so that they don’t pile up and crumple.

Inkjet printers do better when printing photosespecially if you use special photo paper. The home photo printing it is particularly important to carefully consider the issue of resolution, color space and ink if you want realistic photos with true color and subtle color transitions.

5. Size and design

Consider how much space is available for the printer. MFPs tend to be larger, so they may not fit on top of a dresser. Also take into account that you should not squeeze it into a tight space, because the device may overheat. It might even be worth considering the possibility of a portable printer that could be easily moved from one room to another in the apartment. And thanks to the slim, practical design, it can also fit in small spaces. In addition, the appearance of the printer can be important, as it will not only be an office tool, but part of your home.
