Why does death make us so sad? Maybe because it reminds us that we forget to live to live, explains a renowned Romanian doctor.

Dr. Mihaela Bilic spoke on Facebook about a subject that is difficult to tolerate, death.

“What’s in your hand doesn’t lie… that’s how a wise saying sounds when it comes to living in the present, enjoying life HERE and NOW, not leaving for tomorrow what you can do/live/feel/experience today . Because TOMORROW is not known if there will be any more.

The doctor tells about one of the saddest days “lived under the empire of shock, horror, astonishment and absurdity: the husband of a dear friend, a man not even 50 years old, died. And no, it was no accident, no chronic illness, no unhealthy lifestyle, no stroke, no heart attack. It was sudden death. I mean, he got sick last night, he called the ambulance and by morning he was dead!!” says Dr. Bilic.

Dr. Bilic: Illness is not a punishment for sins and mistakes made

“I knew that life is unfair, that illness is not a punishment for sins and mistakes made, I also knew. But I can hardly accept that we are helpless in the face of fate and that sometimes there is no warning, no sign that tomorrow will never come

What is left for us to do, where preventive medicine, genetic analyses, frugal living and balanced nutrition are not the guarantee of longevity? Let’s live to the fullest, no matter how imperfect and full of sins we think we are!”

Dr. Bilic: Death should not terrify us

“Maybe he didn’t even have time to realize this sudden and unforeseen end. But for us, those who are witnesses of this cruel destiny, the message is dramatic, imperious, shocking: it exists only TODAY! It is not death that should terrify us, it is not in our power to control it, it is life that we should take care of.

Don’t put your life on the line even for a second, don’t expect to be thinner, richer, more beautiful, calmer, better dressed, with more muscles or a more important function. Don’t wait for the weekend, the holiday, retirement, divorce or January 1st to truly live. Enjoy the miracle of life every second, because we never know when it will end, when it will die out…” says the doctor specialist.
